Aptos Thread Lift in Truro, Cornwall
The Aptos Thread Lift is a doctor-led, non-surgical lifting treatment that repositions and supports sagging skin using fine, dissolvable threads — stimulating your own collagen and elastin for a natural, refreshed look that develops over time.
What is Aptos Thread Lift?
Aptos Thread Lifting is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure. If you are looking for a non-surgical way to get younger look again, then fastest-growing anti-ageing treatment could be the answer.
The thread lifting is an easy way to smooth wrinkles and tighten sagging skin without surgery. There is a huge increase in the number of enquiries about thread liftings lately. The procedure involves inserting threads into the soft tissues which are then pulled tight, lifting the skin. As a result, the face is redefined, volume restored & the effects of ageing are significantly reduced.
The threads can be both non-absorbable and absorbable. As absorbable threads dissolve naturally, the skin starts to produce more collagen and elastin which gives a longer-lasting result. The threads are inserted without incision in the skin, so the procedure is totally safe. Thread lifts can be used to treat a number of different areas, from smoothing horizontal and vertical forehead wrinkles to lifting the brow and outer eyebrow area and restoring volume to sagging cheeks. They can also smooth lines around the mouth and tighten sagging skin under the lower jaw, lift and rejuvenate various parts of the body.
Results are evident immediately after the procedure and can last from 1,5 to 5 years, depending on the thread composition.
How Does It Work?
1
Biocompatible, Dissolvable Material
Aptos threads are made from P(LA/CL) — a polylactic acid/caprolactone copolymer used safely in medicine for decades. The threads fully absorb over time, leaving nothing permanent behind.
2
Hyaluronic Acid (NAMICA) Technology
Many Aptos threads carry encapsulated hyaluronic acid within the thread fibre itself, releasing it gradually over 3–6 months to stimulate collagen and elastin production from within the skin.
3
Barbed & Spring Thread Designs
Multidirectional barbs grip and lift sagging tissue immediately, while spring and smooth threads add fine support and volume in delicate areas like the lips and brows.
4
Anchored to Your Own Anatomy
Threads are placed along the face’s natural support structures (ligaments and septa), so the lift works with your anatomy rather than against it — a precise, doctor-led technique that prioritises safety and a natural result.

The Aptos Thread Lifting Treatment & FAQs
How long does an Aptos Thread Lift last?
Results typically last 12–24 months, depending on the threads used, your skin quality and lifestyle. The collagen and elastin stimulated during this time can also leave lasting improvements to skin quality even after the threads have fully dissolved.
Is a thread lift painful?
Local anaesthetic is used, so most patients describe sensations of pulling or pressure rather than pain. Mild discomfort, swelling or bruising can occur for a few days afterwards.
How is this different to dermal fillers or Botox?
Fillers add volume and Botox relaxes muscles, but neither physically lifts sagging tissue. A thread lift mechanically repositions and supports the skin while stimulating your own collagen — it can be used alongside fillers and Botox as part of a wider treatment plan.
Am I a suitable candidate?
The best candidates have mild to moderate skin laxity rather than significant sagging. Suitability is always confirmed at a medical consultation with Dr Joe, who will recommend the most appropriate option for your skin and goals.
What is the downtime?
Most patients return to normal activities within 1–2 days. Some swelling, tightness, or bruising can occur in the first week, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for 2–4 weeks.
How many threads are used?
This depends entirely on the areas being treated and your individual anatomy — Dr Joe will explain exactly what’s recommended for you at your consultation.
Can a thread lift be combined with other treatments?
Yes — thread lifting is often combined with dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections, NeoGen or Endolift as part of a broader, personalised facial rejuvenation plan.
Is the Aptos Thread Lift only for cosmetic use?
No — beyond cosmetic rejuvenation, thread lifting techniques can also play a supportive role in certain medical conditions affecting facial symmetry, such as facial nerve palsy. In these cases, threads can help provide mechanical support to weakened or drooping tissue as part of a wider, individually assessed treatment plan led by Dr Stolte. This is a specialist application only available following a full medical consultation.
Who performs the treatment?
All thread lift treatments at MEDfacials are performed or directly overseen by Dr Joe Stolte, a GP and aesthetic doctor, ensuring a medically led, safety-first approach.
Safety & Side Effects
As with any aesthetic procedure, temporary side effects can occur and usually settle within a few days, including mild pain, swelling, slight asymmetry, skin rippling/dimpling, bruising or minor irregularity at the treatment site. Rare risks include thread migration, weakening of fixation or infection — all of which are discussed fully at consultation, along with how MEDfacials minimises these risks through careful anatomical placement and doctor-led technique.
The Procedure and Aftercare
Applying APTOS threads takes around 20 minutes in a treatment room. Most people are able to resume work the same day after the procedure.
For patients who have multiple threads inserted, it can be a little complicated. For patients who have multiple threads inserted, there can be more discomfort.
